Richard M. George
Richard (Dickie) M. George
Information Assurance Technical Director (IA TD)

Current Position:
Mr. George is currently the Information Assurance Technical Director (IA TD). As a technical leader, Mr. George works closely with teams and individuals giving advice and direction on specific, as well as general, technical questions; mentors; and serves on various technical boards. He has participated actively in the equity resolution process and served as a liaison to the Z and R math communities.

Prior Positions:
Mr. George began at NSA in August 1970 after graduating from Dartmouth College. He started in the Cryptomath Intern Program, having tours in Research, the SIGINT Directorate, and the IAD's predecessor organization. Except for a tour in SID and one at the Center for Communications Research in Princeton, he has worked in the IAD since 1973. Mr. George served in the following assignments:

o Technical Director C (Jan.1996-June 2003)
o Technical Director C6/C1 (1988-1996)
o D/C X11 (1986-1988)
o Y37 (1985-1986)
o S03 (1984-1985)
o S61(1983-1984)
o G42 (1982-1983)
o S61 (1981-1982)
o CCR-Princeton (1980-1981)
o Cryptomathematician S12/S61 (1973-1980)
o Cryptomath Program (1970-1973)

Education:
Mr. George received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Math from Dartmouth College in 1970.

Awards: Mr. George has received numerous awards to include: the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Senior Career Employee (2003), NSA Special Recognition Award (1990), KRYPTOS Literature Award (1990), C6 Literature Award (1990), the CMI President's Award (1981) and the NSA/CSS Superior Technical Award (1980).

Personal Data:
Mr. George has been married to Lissa George since 1972 and has two grown children, Libby and Tim. He coached youth soccer and baseball for a number of years and served as manager of the neighborhood swim team. He enjoys running and has served on the Board of Directors of the Howard County Striders for the past 15 years. In his spare time, he carves decorative duck decoys competitively, entering the world championship competitions at amateur level since 1979.
