Peter Bell
Peter is a General Partner at Highland Capital Partners specializing in technology investments across all stages of company growth. As an industry veteran, Peter has worked with and invested in companies in the information security, e-commerce, data center infrastructure, enterprise software and communications industries. Peter represents Highland on the boards of Desktone, ExaGrid Systems, Gigamon, INXPO, Nebula, RentJuice, SCVNGR, Virtual Computer, VMTurbo, WePay, and is actively involved with Highland's investments in iddiction, NetentSec and RethinkDB. He is a former board member of Ocarina Networks (acquired by Dell).
Before joining Highland Capital Partners, Peter was Managing Director and founder of Stowe Capital, LLC, which specialized in providing capital and management expertise to emerging growth companies.
Prior to establishing Stowe Capital in 2002, Peter was the co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of StorageNetworks, an information storage software and services company. Under his leadership, Peter took the company from pioneering concept to over $120 million in annual revenue in three years and closed six rounds of equity capital financing, totaling over $700 million, including a successful IPO in June 2000.
Peter began his career at EMC Corporation. During his tenure he held positions in marketing, operations and sales and played a key role in building and managing the Open Storage Group at EMC, a major growth engine for the company.
Peter lives in the Bay Area with his wife and three boys. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Boston College. In addition, Peter currently serves as a Distinguished Executive in Residence at The Carroll School of Management at Boston College and is the co-founder of the Boston College Technology Council. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College, a MBA from the Harvard Business School, and an honorary doctorate from Babson College.
John Herr
John has over 15 years of senior executive experience in the SaaS, Internet, and financial services sectors. He has a strong track record of scaling internet businesses into large enterprises, with areas of expertise that include sales and marketing, business development, product management, team building, global expansion, operational efficiency, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to Adaptive Planning, John was an Executive in Residence (EIR) at Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), where he nurtured early-stage companies, helped to coach and guide growth-stage companies, and developed new investment opportunities. Before NVP, John was the President and CEO of EZ Shield, a technology-enabled services company serving consumers and small businesses. From 2001 – 2007, John served as Vice President & General Manager at eBay, working across the eBay, PayPal, and international businesses. During this time, revenue grew 15 times, from $400 million to $6 billion, and employees increased from a few hundred to 15,000. Prior to eBay, John was Chief Revenue Officer at Buy.com, a leading e-commerce company, where he was responsible for scaling revenues from $35 million to $860 million. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Ziff Davis Media, Johnson & Johnson, and Bain & Company. John earned an Economics BA from Harvard University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.Gian Fulgoni
Gian Fulgoni is Chairman and Co-Founder of comScore Networks. Mr. Fulgoni brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to the INXPO team. From 1981 to 1998 he served as president and CEO of Information Resources, Inc., the international market research company, where he grew the firm's revenues at an annual compound rate of 40 percent to levels in excess of $500 million per year. In 1996, IRI was recognized by Advertising Age as the largest U.S. market research company.
Long involved with the growth of hugely successful technology businesses, Mr. Fulgoni served on the boards of US Robotics and Platinum Technology prior to their respective acquisitions by 3Com and Computer Associates in multi-billion dollar transactions.
Mr. Fulgoni has been the recipient of numerous industry awards, including Illinois Entrepreneur of the Year and the Wall Street Transcript Award. Educated in the U.K., Mr. Fulgoni holds a Master's degree in Marketing and a B.S. in Physics.
Val Vaden
Prior to forming Outfitter Ventures, Val co-founded Vector Capital and now acts as Senior Advisor to the Firm. At Vector, Val concentrated on investments in enterprise software and e-commerce. Val continues to work closely with Niku Corporation, the leader in IT management and governance solutions, and ProcessClaims, the leader in claims management solutions for insurance carriers.
Before Vector, Val was a founding general partner of Benchmark Capital, a leading e-commerce startup venture capital firm best known for its early stage investments in eBay and Arriba. At Benchmark, Val was responsible for investments in PictureVision, a web photography company sold to Kodak, and BlueCoat Systems, an internet infrastructure appliance company.
Val also has Software Company operating experience, having served as the VP of Marketing of Tesseract Corporation, a Software Magazine 100 enterprise software company. Val led the purchase of Tesseract from Prudential Insurance and was instrumental in its turnaround and sale to Ceridian Corporation one year later. Val began his investment career at the Cypress Fund, was an investment professional at Feibusch & Co., and worked as a management consultant at Bain & Co.
