FastWeb Connects Potential College Students and Their Parents with Colleges and Universities in its First-Ever Virtual College Fair

Higher Education Experts and More Than 200 Colleges and Universities Represented at the November 6th Event

CHICAGO – November 5, 2008 – FastWeb, a leading scholarship matching engine and a site within the Monster Worldwide® (NASDAQ: MNST) network, today announced the inaugural EducationXpo (http://www.educationxpo.com). This 12-hour online forum brings the traditional college fair to the virtual world, allowing prospective college students and their parents to interact with colleges, universities and higher education experts from across the U.S.

EducationXpo, which will go live on Thursday, November 6th at 10:00 a.m. EST, will feature a comprehensive interactive online forum for future college students and their parents seeking information about higher education. Colleges and universities – both traditional and online – will have “avatar” representatives available to talk one-on-one and in group settings about admissions, enrollment, tuition and scholarship availability, among other topics regarding their respective institutions.

“Using the virtual experience, FastWeb is helping to transform the higher education selection process – giving students that might not otherwise have the financial means or time to travel to potential schools the opportunity to meet and interact in real-time with colleges and universities nationwide,” said Amanda Joyner, vice president of Monster Youth. “EducationXpo brings the traditional college fair to the three-dimensional world, uniting some of the country’s leading experts in the higher education industry with young men and women preparing to enter college over the next few years.”

The live EducationXpo event will also feature:

  • Information about financial aid and scholarship programs, as well as an expert panel to field questions about college financial planning.
  • Full campus video tours and enrollment information from over 200 colleges and universities.
  • Internship and part-time work opportunities available through MonsterTRAK, the leading online resource that connects college students and recent graduates with employers looking for qualified entry-level and internship candidates.
  • College search and admissions advice through Admissions.com, a comprehensive online resource geared toward providing tips and helping prospective college students and their parents find – and get into – the right school for them.
  • Information about opportunities available through the armed forces from Military.com, the largest military and veteran membership organization, with over ten million members.
  • Several presentations by renowned experts, including Mark Kantrowitz, publisher of Finaid.org, on securing a student loan amidst the credit crisis; and Patricia Ross, vice president of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Inc., on the importance of applying to multiple scholarships.
  • Myriad of other education services exhibitors and expert organizations, including Making It Count, YOUniversityTV.com, AboutU, City of College Dreams and MyYearbook.com.

To facilitate the robust technology used to power the event, FastWeb aligned with InXpo, the leader in producing and managing virtual events and related communities, and YOUniversityTV.com, the world’s first wholly integrated online college video resource community.

“By using the InXpo Virtual Event platform and services, FastWeb is taking advantage of the latest internet technologies to provide their communities of students, parents and colleges with an engaging and interactive experience, all without leaving their homes,” said Malcolm Lotzof, CEO of InXpo. “We at InXpo are proud to be an integral part of this new experience.”
